Reading the Word

I do not care if it is the Bible, the Bagavad gita, the Talmud, Winnie the Pooh stories, self help books, or any one of millions of possible books so long as the reading of the word takes me to a place of growth,  If my reading furthers my path toward a greater understanding of myself, of being able to love, to live and to know that I am a divine child of God doing the best I know how on this plane of existence as a human being. I read often and regularly. I read every day.

I daily find some Words to read that will help me through my day, broaden my perspective, or give me release from pain or upset. I daily read some Word to uplift and enlighten me, even if just a tiny smidgen of light cracks through.  The Word is the original creative mechanism. It is what was, if you subscribe to the Biblical story of creation, what God used to create the heavens and the earth and all things, creatures and manifestations. The Word was Good. The Word was also God.

Today I read a short piece by Ernest Holmes from "Creative Ideas" on health. I also read a little bit from Joel OSteen's "Every Day a Friday".  I will probably read some later from one or more other books because I love to read and I love to be refreshed with the thoughts of others who have something helpful and wonderful to share through their own Words.

If something is not working in your life, find a book, ask a friend for a suggestion, read a book review to help you discover a book that will be a guide on your spiritual road. While I believe we are all exactly wonderful and perfect at a soul level, I also believe that as a human being we are all here to learn, to grow, and to find better and better ways to live life fully and in joy.  If a book or newspaper brings you "down" or makes you question whether you are loved or okay, it might be time to walk away from that book. It isn't for you. Choose again.  The great thing about our lives is that we can choose again and again.  We are not forced to continue to do the same things over and over that have always been done.  We are invited to choose what we want to express and experience and move ever closer to that end.

What are you choosing today?
